Japanese Supplementary School in Alsace (Strasbourg)

APEJA, Association Pour l'Enseignement du Japonais en Alsace, created in 1986, manages the Japanese Supplementary School in Alsace (Strasbourg, France).


The school is located in a high school in Strasbourg, in the district of 'La Petite France', within 5 minutes walking distance from the city centre and easily accessible.

The School is organized by and for Japanese nationals and binationals (French-Japanese, German-Japanese, etc.). It is a meeting place for the Japanese community and offers classes to children.

Japanese classes and additional activities

Primary/elementary and secondary/high school classes (小中学部) for 6 to 16-year-old children are held every Saturday (except holidays)

from 9:30 to 11:30. 

Kindergarten lessons (幼稚部for 3 to 5-year-old children are also held every Saturday (except holidays) from 9:30 to 11:30.


These lessons are often followed by additional activities

from 11:30 to 12:00 :

- Calligraphy,

- Kamishibai,

- Culture ( tea ceremony, etc.),

- Japanese folklore ( Hina Matsuri , Setsubun, etc.),

- Events (entrance and year-end ceremonies),

- Borrowing books from the library.
